The steam railway offers an interesting dog-friendly outdoor activity. Dogs are welcome to travel on the miniature steam trains with their humans for a small fee – the dog ticket price is currently £1.50. An excellent alternative way to venture into the Lake District to Eskdale – travel the whole route there and back, or hop on and off en route and do some walking in the countryside with your dog. Dogs are not permitted in the railway’s own cafes at either end of the line, however there is a lovely dog friendly pub in Eskdale (The Boot Inn) where food and drink can be purchased and water bowls are provided for dogs.
