Muddy Paws Coat
To be honest, I’m not a big fan of clothes on dugs unless it’s for a practical reason and Bailie Dug is also comfortable. We also found early on that he isn’t too keen on fashion and prefers to be a naked dug. If you put something on him like a t-shirt then he just freezes on the spot and stares into space. So we just don’t do fashion for dugs. He is also a non-standard shape so although he is a wee dug, he is very long, so normal sized dog clothes just don’t fit him.
One thing he does like (or doesn’t mind) however is the Stormguard dog coat (Muddy Paws). We have this in bright red. We bought this for him basically to keep him warm and protect him from the “cald Embra wind”. When we tried it on him it didn’t seem as restrictive as other clothes and he walked around freely without any problems (usually he would be rooted to the spot). The added bonus is it has a tummy strap. Since he is low down to the ground, on a rainy day he would be very dirty on his chest and belly. This is the only one I’ve seen that has the strap underneath. It’s also machine washable. It doesn’t seem to be fully waterproof though but fine in light rain or to keep him dry when he’s splashing in puddles.
It’s easy to put on as well even with a harness. We don’t however use the rear leg straps as he doesn’t like those for some reason. Probably because he cant freely lift his leg (he likes to do that a lot!). It’s secure enough though since it has the belly strap and a Velcro strap that wraps round him. Big dug paws up to this one!
The jaiket normally costs aboot £15 – £20. More info can be found on the Muddy Paws website.
